Section IV. OPERATION UNDER UNUSUAL CONDITIONS
2.13 OPERATION IN EXTREME. COLD (BELOW 32° F (0° C)).
When the air temperature is expected to be 32 F (0° C) or below, set up the water system torecirculate
water in the water tank.
Close all control valves (V1 through V11), (Figure 2-15).
Open control valves V2, V3, V5 and V6.
Start and operate 125 gpm pump. Refer to the applicable TM.
At the hypochlorination unit, disconnect 4-inch discharge hose from the input (pump side).
At 2-inch hose connection kit, open control valve V7 and allow water to drain from components.
At hose nozzle kits, open control valves V8, V9, V10 and VI I and the distribution nozzles to allow
water to drain from components.
Drain water and hypochlorite solution from the hypochlorination unit. Refer to the applicable TM.
To prevent damage to the equipment, all hoses must be disconnected from the water pump,
hypochlorination unit and collapsible tank. The pump, tank, and hoses must be drained quickly.
All control valves must be opened and all equipment inspected to assure complete drainage.
If equipment is shut down during cold weather (temperature falls below 32° F (0° C)), perform the following
steps to ensure water is drained from the collapsible tank, hoses, valves, pump and connections.
Open all control valves (V1 through V11), (Figure 2-9).
Open all dispensing nozzles.
Allow water to drain from hoses and couplings.
Drain collapsible water tank. Refer to the applicable TM.
Drain 125 gpm water pump. Refer to the applicable TM.
Disconnect and drain hypochlorination unit. Refer to the applicable TM.
