Fill Cooling System (cont).

Fill system with clean antifreeze and water
solution (50/50) until level is about one inch below
filler neck.
(4)
When coolant appears at water pump plug (2),
torque plug to 150 lb-in (17 Nm) (wet) and finish
filling.
NOTE
In extremely low temperatures, -31C (-25F) or
lower, increase percentage of antifreeze.
CAUTION
Do not start pump engine unless distributor
pump is primed. Refer to para. 2-16 to prime
pump.

Run engine for 10 minutes or until
thermostat opens. As coolant circulates, air
trapped in cylinder head will be released.
Filling Cooling System
WARNING
Contact with hot coolant can cause serious burns. Allow cooling system to cool before releasing
pressure.
(6)
Fill with additional coolant as needed. Maintain level so it is visible at the bottom of the filler neck.
(7)
Shut down unit and install filler cap.

Check Wiring.
(1)
Check engine electrical wiring for breaks, damaged insulation and loose connections. Refer to para. 4-21 for
repair of electrical wiring.
