Installing the Pump.a. AssemblingPump,Motor,andDropHose.(1)Check to see that the drop hose end is cut square. Use a sharp knife or hacksaw to cut the hose. Theninstall the hose coupling into the end of the drop hose (see figure 2-48). If insertion is difficult, cut a 1/2" slitin the end of the hose. This will help you start the coupling into the hose.NOTEDo not use any form of lubrication on the hose or the coupling.(2)Push the hose fully onto the shank of the coupling. The end of the coupling may be tapped lightly on awood surface, if necessary.(3)Cut away about six inches of the cable ridge from the hose. Use a file to smooth the ridge even with theouter hose surface.2-111
