SERVICE MANUALExamine springs, snap ring, retainer, washers andscrews. Parts should be free of distortion and corrosion.Replace parts that show any defects.It is recommended that all rubber parts be replaced withnew.ASSEMBLYLubricate O-rings, valve seals, O-ring sealing surfacesand bearing surfaces of piston, valve body andmodulation tube with Item 3 of LUBRICANTSPECIFICATIONS.1.Install exhaust port diaphragm, washer andscrew to exhaust valve body. Tighten screw 1.7- 2.3 N.m (15-20 in lbs) torque.2.Install inlet valve seal and O-ring on modulationtube. Place seal retainer over tube and aroundvalve seal.3.Carefully place modulation tube assembly intovalve body so that inlet valve seal rests on bodyseat.4.Install exhaust valve spring over tube to rest onseal retainer.5.Position exhaust valve body O-ring over body.6.Align exhaust valve body to spring, push bodyinto relay valve body firmly and hold to preventspring from pushing exhaust body out.7.Install washer and retaining ring into valve bodygroove properly.8.Position exhaust valve seal on piston (refer toFig. 2 for proper position of valve faces).9.Install capscrew in piston and tighten to 4.9 - 6.0N.m (43-53 in lbs) torque.10.Install one O-ring on piston and the other invalve cover.11.Position piston assembly in cover.12.It is not required that piston spring be reinstalledin valve body. Align piston, cover and spring.Push both piston and cover into valve body;install four capscrews and tighten to 12 - 17 N.m(110-160 in lbs) torque.CTS-4079 - CHAPTER VI - Page 4
