SUSPENSION ALIGNMENTNOTE- Steps 8,9, 10, 11, and 12 apply to 6x4vehicles.8.Position slotted bar one side of vehicle so thatpointers are engaged in center hole of both rearaxles.9.Measure distance between cord of plumb bob andpointer on rear rear axle and record (dimension "B"in Figure 4).Figure 4 - Measure Dimension "B"10. Position slotted bar on opposite side of vehicle withthe same pointer being used on rear rear axle forboth sides and measure distance between cord ofplum bob and pointer on rear rear axle. Recorddimension.11. Any difference in dimensions from side to side mustbe equalized if in excess of 3.175 mm (.125 inches).12. Refer to AXLE ADJUSTMENT portion of this sectionfor procedures to equalize differences in dimensionswhich exceed 3.175 mm (.125 inches).13. It is recommended that vehicle be driven a shortdistance and alignment rechecked.AXLE ADJUSTMENTHENDRICKSONThe design of Hendrickson suspensions does notprovide for axle adjustment for alignment purposes. Ifthe axles are measured to be significantly out ofalignment, the following areas should be investigated asthe possible cause.1.Severely worn walking beam center or end bushings.2.Worn spring pins.3.Improper location of frame brackets on frame.4.Any worn or damaged parts.CTS-4016W - Page 3
