ENGINE FAILS TO CRANK.Step 1.Check the battery cables for fraying, chafing, corrosion, or looseness.Replace, clean, or tighten battery cables as necessary (see paragraph 4-20).Step 2.Test the battery for low charge (see paragraph 4-20).Replace the battery as necessary (see paragraph 4-20).Step 3.Test the ignition switch and the starter switch. Turn ignition switch to ON and check the voltage across the switch with a multimeter. It should read 12V. Push the starter switch and check the voltage across it with a multimeter. It should read 1 2V. Check all the ignition wire terminals for damage or looseness.Replace switches as necessary. Replace or tighten wires and terminals as necessary (see paragraph4-21).4-8
