3. Clean the valve seat and rubber flapper on the valvestem assembly with a soft cloth or soft bristle brush. Seefigures 3 and 4. Use warm water and MSA® Cleaner-Sanitizer, Part Number 34337. Add one package ofpowdered Cleaner-Sanitizer to a gallon of warm water (about120°F). It is not necessary to clean the compression spring.Rinse parts thoroughly with warm clear water.CAUTION: Cleaning and sanitizing at therecommended 120°F temperature willavoid overheating and distortion of partswhich would necessitate replacement.4. Dry all the parts by air drying or blowing clean drybreathable compressed air over the parts.5. Reassemble the valve by setting the valve body on aclean surface with the seat side up, see figure #5. Insert thestem of the valve stem assembly into the guide hole of thebody, set the spring in place on the valve stem assemblyand insure that spring seats in the guide socket inside thecover. Install the four screws. The last one or two turns ofthe screws will have greater resistance to turning. This isthe self locking feature of the screw. Damaged screwsshould be discarded and replaced with new ones.* 6. Install the valve assembly in the facepiece and insure thatthe nut is firmly tightened.7. Don mask and test for leaks as per the apparatusinstructions.8. Before storage, the valve must be forced air dried. Dothis by disconnecting the breathing tube from the facepiece,hold the end of the tube over the exhalation valve inside thefacepiece and blow air through the valve, by opening the BYPASS valve slightly. Make sure air passes through the valvefor about one-half minute.Storage: Store the mask in the plastic bag furnished with theapparatus.* Applies to the Ultravue facepiece only.
