REFRIGERATION SYSTEM SERVICE (CONT) 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 NOTE If any refrigeration system components have been removed or replaced, install a new filter-drier before evacuating system (para 5-19). Close two manifold service valves. Connect hoses from charging manifold to compressor service ports. Connect center manifold hose to vacuum pump. Start vacuum pump. Open charging manifold valves. NOTE If gage does not reach 29 in. (74 cm) of mercury, there may be a leak or too much moisture in the system or a problem with the vacuum pump. the system (para 5-7). Run vacuum pump until gage measures at least 29 in. (74 cm) of mercury. Leak-test Run vacuum pump for about one hour while watching manifold gage. Shut off pump and look at com- pound gage. Any loss of vacuum over a 15-minute period indicates leakage. If this happens, leak-test the system (para 5-7). Close charging manifold valves. Disconnect pump from center hose connection. 5-35
