SERVICE MANUALINTRODUCTIONIntroductionDESCRIPTIONThe Turbocharged 400 Series Engines incorporates a"BALANCE PRESSURE" PISTON with a revised secondland configuration and top ring groove and a newINTERMEDIATE PISTON RING. These technologicaladvances provide a more positive seal for the top ringagainst the bottom of the top ring groove and cylinderwall (sleeve). Engine oil control is improved significantly.For ease of service all 300/400 series engines areequipped with two spin-on, throw-away type oil filters.A hydraulic fuel system which accurately meters therequired amount of fuel for complete combustion, andprovides complete governor control for power take offapplications without the additional cost of add-ongovernors.Incorporated in a built-in timing advance and excess fuelcontrol device which allows smooth, quiet, and unaidedstarting down to 20°F. or below.CGES- 185-3*PRINTED IN UNITED STATES OF AMERICAPage 2
