SERVICE MANUALROBERT BOSCH MODEL MW INJECTION PUMPSection 11BARREL AND PLUNGERComponentsOne barrel and plunger assembly for each enginecylinder mounts to the injection pump housing. Eachbarrel flange which contains two slotted holes ispositioned over two pump housing studs and is securedwith two flat washers, lock washers and nuts. Threadedinto the top of the barrel is the delivery valve holder(Figure 10).The delivery valve gasket, delivery valve, delivery valvespring and washer are installedinto the upper barrel bore prior to the installation of thedelivery valve holder. An "O" ring on the delivery valveholder acts as a dust seal to prevent foreign material orliquids from entering the delivery valve holder threads.When the injection pump is assembled, shims areinserted around the number one housing studs andbetween the pump housing and number one cylinderbarrel flange to establish the specified plunger lift to portclosure.
