TM 5-3825-229-14&P4-37. WHEELS (cont)a.Removal.CAUTIONLeft wheel nuts must be turned counter-clockwise totighten, clockwise to loosen. Right wheel nuts must beturned clockwise to tighten and counter-clockwise toloosen. Failure to follow these rules will result indamage to equipment.(1)Loosen, but do not remove ten outer lug nuts (1).(2)Jack axle up until wheels (2 and 3) are clear ofground.(3)Support semitrailer axle and frame with jackstands.(4)Remove ten nuts (1) and outer wheel (2).Removing and Installing WheelsNOTEIf only outer tire and wheel is being removed, omit step (5).(5)Remove ten lug nuts (4) and inner wheel (3)b.Installation.CAUTIONValve stem must be in groove of drum to prevent damage.(1)Install inner wheel (3) and ten lug nuts (4). Torque nuts to 400-450 lb-ft (542-612 Nm) (dry).(2)Install outer wheel (2) and ten lug nuts (1). Valve stem must be 180 degrees from valve stem of inner tire.Torque lug nuts to 400-450 lb-ft (542-612 Nm) (dry).(3)Remove jack stands and lower semitrailer.(4)Remove and stow chock blocks.4-77
