ENGINE DIAGNOSTIC TEST PROCEDURESSection 6•INJECTION PUMP INITIAL TIMING (Continued)400 Series On-Highway(with Robert Bosch MW Pumps)If static timing is NOT within specifications, adjust pumpto engine timing as follows:1.Rotate engine to correct crankshaft position (statictiming) as specified in PERFORMANCE DATAGUIDELINES, in this Section.2.Loosen injection pump drive gear bolts and washersto injection pump hub (Figure 22).Figure 22. MW Injection Pump Drive Gear3.Rotate pump clockwise (as viewed from drivegear end) until timing mark on pump drive hub is alignedwith timing pointer in adapter hole (Figure 20).4.Rotate loosened pump drive gear incounterclockwise direction (as viewed from drivegear end) to 3/4 of full extent of drive gear bolt slots.5.With injection pump in position, secure pumpadapter to front plate with bolts, nuts and washers.Tighten bolts and nuts to 33 N•m (24 Ibf-ft) torque.6.Verify alignment of pump timing pointer to hub markthrough mounting adaptor opening. Rotate pumpdrive hub as required for proper alignment. Tightenpump drive gear to 47 N•m (35 Ibf-ft).CGES-240-4Printed in United States of AmericaPage 29
