The No. 2 and No. 3 sungears are both part of one shaft assembly, and turn as aunit.Clutches No. 4, No. 5 and No. 6 control thespeed of the machine (FIRST, SECOND, THIRD, andFOURTH speed). No. 4 clutch (12) is the clutch forTHIRD speed. No. 5 clutch (15) is the clutch forSECOND speed. No. 6 clutch (17) is the clutch forFIRST speed. No. 6 clutch is fastened to the No. 5carrier. The No. 4 and No. 5 sun gears are oneassembly, connected with splines to the No. 6 clutchgear which acts as the output of power for the outputshaft.2-83
