Torque converter gets hot. 1. Bad temperature gauge. a. Replace temperature gauge. 2. Operation of the machine is not correct.  It has a constant overload. a. Adjust  the  operation  of  the  machine  as necessary to reduce the overload. 3. Core of oil cooler is not completely open. a. Repair or replace oil cooler. 4. Not enough oil goes to the oil cooler. a. Converter   oil   has   leakage   through   the bearing for the oil pump gear and into the transmission. b. Converter   oil   has   leakage   through   seal rings (near the bearing on the output shaft of    the    torque    converter)    and    into    the transmission. c. The supply of oil to the torque converter is low. 1. Replace   bearing   for   the   oil   pump gear. 2. Replace seal rings. 3. Check oil level, adjust as needed. 5. Ratio valve does not operate correctly. a. Repair or replace ratio valve. 6. Mechanical failure in the torque converter. a. Repair or replace parts in torque converter as necessary. PROBLEM PROBABLE CAUSE RECOMMENDED CORRECTIVE ACTION 7. Transmission oil is too hot. a. Low oil level. b. Clutch   drag   (friction   when   clutch   is   not engaged). c. Bad pump causes low oil flow. d. Leakage in the transmission. 1. Check oil level, adjust as needed. 2. Repair or replace clutch. 3. Repair or replace pump. 4. Check for area of leakage, repair or replace parts as necessary.
