HYDRAULIC SYSTEM (CONT)
Step 2. Check input pressure to cylinder.
If pressure to cylinder is 1500 to 1800 psi (10342 - 12410 kPa), replace cylinder (para 4-140
thru 4-142).
If pressure to cylinder is below 1500 to 1800 psi (10342 - 12410 kPa), go to step 3.
Step 3. Check pressure and return lines to hydraulic cylinder.
If hoses are crimped, damaged, or leaking, replace hose(s) (para 4-136).
If hoses are not crimped, damaged, or leaking, fault not corrected. Notify supervisor.
BITUMINOUS SYSTEM
24.
BITUMEN DOES NOT FLOW THROUGH SPRAYBAR.
Step 1. Check pressure at outlet port on bituminous distributor.
If 8 to 15 in. Hg (203-381 mm Hg) of mercury are not measured, go to fault symptom #8.
If 8 to 15 in. Hg (203-381 mm Hg) of mercury are measured, go to step 2.
Step 2. Remove and inspect strainer (para 4-151).
If strainer is clogged and dirty, clean and reinstall strainer.
If strainer is not clogged or dirty, go to step 3.
Step 3. Inspect hydraulic on/off cylinder operation.
If hydraulic on/off cylinder does not operate, go to fault symptom #23.
If hydraulic on/off cylinder operates, replace and/or repair gate valve (para 5-59/5-62).
