Section I. DESCRIPTION AND USE OF
OPERATORS CONTROLS AND INDICATORS.
2-1. GENERAL.
This section contains descriptions of operator controls and indicators for WDS20K, WDS40K, WDS300K,
WDS800K, and WDS1,000K water distribution systems. Controls and indicators for the 350 GPM pump are
described in TM 5-4320-226-14. Controls and indicators for the 125 GPM pump are described in TM 5-2805-257-14
and TM 5-4320-208-12&P. Operation of valves and nozzles used in the five water systems is described in
Section III.
2-2. HYPOCHLORINATION UNIT CONTROLS AND INDICATORS.
This section contains descriptions of operator controls and indicators for the Hypochlorination Unit, and their
functions which are used in all five water distribution systems. To ensure that the equipment is ready for
operation at all times it must be inspected (as outlined in Section II of this chapter) before operation, during
operation, and after operation so that defects may be discovered and corrected before they result in serious
damage or failure of the unit. The necessary preventive maintenance checks and services will be performed
before operation. Defects discovered during operation of the unit will be noted for future correction, to be made
as soon as operation has ceased. Stop operation immediately if a deficiency is noted during operation which
would damage the equipment if operation were continued. After operation, preventive maintenance checks and
services (PMCS) will be performed at intervals based on the normal operations of the equipment. Reduce the
interval to compensate for abnormal conditions. Report defects or unsatisfactory operating characteristics
beyond the scope of the operator at organizational maintenance at the earliest opportunity.
