However, someextreme conditions require special procedures to keep the drum operating properly and to preventdamage.2-7. OPERATION IN EXTREME HEAT, ABOVE 135°F (57°C)In addition to steps taken for operation under usual conditions (paragraphs 2-3 and 2-4), take thefollowing steps as conditions allow:a.b.c.d.=It is important to take the following measures to keep thedrum as cool as possible. As the water inside the drumheats up, the water will expand. This expansion of thewater could increase the pressure inside the drum to a pres-sure above the maximum 5 psi operating pressure, whichcould lead to damage to the drum and loss of the valuablewater supply.Do not block air circulation around the drum.Erect a tent or tarpaulin over drum to provide shade.Place drum under shade of trees or cover with leafy branches.Cover drum with wet burlap or other fabric, and keep fabric wet.2-8. OPERATION IN FREEZING TEMPERATURES, 32°F (0°C) AND BELOWIn addition to steps taken for operation under usual conditions (paragraphs 2-3 and 2-4), take thefollowing steps as conditions allow:a. In freezing temperatures theto avoid cracking it.b. Remove snow, sleet, and icec. In temperatures below 32°Fto thaw before dispensing water.drum could become brittle.
