SERVICE MANUALCYLINDER HEAD & VALVESSection 3Figure 34. - Testing Valve RotatorReassemble Valves, Valve Lever and Shaft Assemblyas follows:1.Coat valve stems with clean engine oil (SAE 50)prior to inserting them from the bottom of thehead.2.Return each valve and its parts to the positionfrom which it was removed.3.Place spring seat, spring and roto coil (seeNOTE) on valve stem.NOTE: Roto coil is equipped with an oil seal, thelower valve keeper groove (on valve) must be cut ata 45 degree angle as shown in Figure 35Figure 35. - Valve Keeper Groove4.With a valve spring compressor, compress thespring far enough to install the valve locks in thekeeper groove (Fig.35).5.If necessary, press replacement cap plugs intoeach end of the shaft, (4, Fig.36).6.With side of shaft (4) marked "TOP" up and boltgrooves toward assembler, slide one spring (3)to the center of the shaft.7.Slide a rocker arm (1) into the shaft on each sideof the spring, with the adjusting screw towardsthe assembler.8.Slide a support bracket (2) onto the shaft fromeach end of the shaft to the rocker arm. Thetapped hole in each bracket must be to the topand the through bolt holes must line up with thenotched side of the shaft.9.Slide all remaining parts on the shaft, observingthe order shown in Fig. 36.
