Control KeyboardThe following is a description of SE-2783’s or 3005A’sControl Keyboard. From this keyboard, each function ofSE-2783 or 3005A can be selected. ONCE A KEY HASBEEN DEPRESSED, IT MAY BE RELEASED. With thepossible exception of the "" and "" keys, it is notnecessary to hold the key depressed. SE-2783 or 3005Areacts as soon as the key is depressed, and remains inthat mode until another key has been depressed."RST"The Reset Key will place the SE-2783 or 3005A in the"power-up" mode. Often times when an engine iscranked, the battery voltage will drop below the 9 voltminimum required to operate the SE-2783 or 3005A. Toplace the instrument into proper operation after this hashappened, release and de- press the "RST" Key.NOTE: The "RST" key is a latching key and willremain down until depressed again - to release it.The key must be depressed when the instrument isin operation."2 CYC"This key is a latching key used on 2 cycle engines. Itshould be depressed for 2 cycle engines and releasedfor 4 cycle engines."TST"This test key has two functions. Each time the SE-2783or 3005A is connected to a power source, this key MUSTbe depressed before any otherfunction can be selected. This places the SE-2783 or3005A in an operational mode.Additionally, each time "TST" is depressed, the SE-2783or 3005A checks to see if a signal is being received fromthe transducer. If a signal is being received "8888"appears in the lighted display. If the display shows "- - - -," a problem exists."RPM"This key when depressed, places the SE-2783 or 3005Ain the rpm mode. Engine speed will be displayed on thedigital readout."ADV"This key, when depressed, places the SE-2783 or 3005Ain the ADVANCE mode so injection timing can be easilymeasured as described in the "OPERATINGPROCEDURES" section."STB ON"This key operates the remote strobe light unit. To turnon the strobe light, depress "STB ON" key. To turn thelight off, depress and release the key. The timing lightcan be turned on whether in "RPM" or "ADV" mode ofoperation.“ “This key functions during the "ADV" mode. In theADVANCE mode, it will increase or increment theadvance angle by one if it is depressed and re- leasedquickly. If it is depressed and held for greater than one-half second, the advance angle will be incremented byone; then at the end of one- half second, it will begin toslew or increase at a rate of four degrees per second foras long as the key is depressed.
