REPAIR INSTRUCTIONS USING FIBER GLASS MATERIAL21.Following the manufacturer’s instructions, mixenough resin to saturate the piece(s) of mat.22.Using a stippling motion of your brush, lay-up theresin-soaked mat by hand (Figure 40), one pieceat a time, until the top layer is just below thesurface of the panel.Figure 40. - Filler Mat Lay-Up23.Allow the mat to harden. Then, rough sand with80 grit sandpaper (Figure 41).Figure 41. - Sanding Filler Mat24.To complete the repair, use the procedure forSurface Filling and Finishing on page 16.Panel Bond SeparationPanel separation is a fiber glass structural defect thatoccurs when the adhesive bond between panels fails. Itcan be caused by fatigue, abuse or improper assembly.1.Perform the steps listed under PreparationProcedure on page 5.2.Separate fiber glass panels until the separationreaches the point where bonding is secure. Usewood block, screwdriver or putty knife, etc. tohold panels apart (Figure 42).Figure 42. - Separating Panels3.Use a coarse grinder or burr to clean oldadhesive from between panels (Figure 43). Usean air gun to remove dust from the bondingsurfaces.
