5-17. ENGINE OIL SEALS REPLACEMENT.

Crankshaft pulley
Cloth, lint-free (item 12, Appendix E)
removed.
Compound, sealing (item 16, Appendix E)
Para 5-20
Flywheel removed.
Oil seals (2)
a. Removal
NOTE
Both front and rear oil seals are
removed the same way. Rear oil seal
shown.

Drill two holes 180 degrees apart in rear seal
(1), on engine (2), and install two No. 10 sheet
metal screws.
(2)
Using No. 10 sheet metal screws remove rear
seal (1) from engine (2). Discard rear seal (1)
and No. 10 sheet metal screws.
WARNING
Oil is very slippery and can cause
falls. To avoid injury, wipe up spilled
oil with rags.
(3)
Repeat steps (1 and 2) for front seal.
