Alternator removed.
Multimeter, Digital AN/PSM-45
WARNING
Remove all jewelry such as rings, dog tags, bracelets, etc. If jewelry contacts
battery terminal, a direct short may result in instant heating of tools, damage to
equipment, and injury or death to personnel.
CAUTION
·
Do not, under any circumstances, short field terminal of alternator to ground.
Permanent damage to regulator may occur.

Do not disconnect voltage regulator while alternator is operating. Large
voltage transient may occur and damage regulator.
·
Do not disconnect alternator output lead from alternator while alternator is
operating, as damping effect of battery will be lost. The voltage will rise to an
extreme value and permanent damage to regulator may occur.
·
Do not remove alternator from engine without first disconnecting ground
battery cable. Permanent damage to regulator may result.
NOTE
Battery used in electrical testing must be of correct voltage and must be in good
condition and fully charged.
