SERVICE MANUAL Fig. 37 Retainer Ring In Housing 1 Retainer Ring 12. Thread the retainer ring into pump body finger tight. Install the "UP" side of the ring up, Figure 37. 13. Lubricate the flow control valve bore with the same type of lubricant as used in pump. Insert the valve assembly into the bore with the long small diameter end in first, Figure 38. The valve must slide smoothly in the bore. Place the flow control valve spring in the valve bore and install the valve cap finger tight. 14. Install new O-ring on discharge fitting (Figure 39) and install fitting in housing finger tight. 15. Clean mating surfaces and install the pump mounting flange using a new O-ring (gear driven pump) or mounting bracket (pulley driven pump) and tighten mounting nuts to specified torque. 16. Place pump in a bench vise using the mounting flange (gear driven pump) or mounting bracket (pulley driven pump) to hold pump. IMPORTANT Do not clamp vise on pump housing. 17.
