SERVICE MANUALIMPORTANTThe front and rear end plates aredifferent and must be assembled in theirproper locations for the pump to functioncorrectly. As shown in Figure 26, thefront end plate for clockwise rotationpumps contains the oil grooves. Forcounter clockwise pumps, the end platewithout the oil grooves is the front endplate. A correct assembly will align theend plate O.D. large open slots with thelarge shallow pump housing pocketports. Theother type uses a pre-formed gasketmoulded in the shape of the end plategrooves. Determine which type of end plateis used in the pump being serviced.
