SERVICE MANUALTURBOCHARGERSSection 1REMOVALRemove the Turbocharger as Follows:1.Remove the exhaust elbow (1, Fig. 3), (held withhex-head cap screws, nuts and lock washers.)2.Remove the Turbocharger exhaust sleeve (notshown), located between the exhaust andTurbine housing.NOTE: The exhaust sleeve Is loosely hold and mustbe supported when removed.3.Disconnect the oil Inlet tube (4) and drain tube(5) from the center housing. Remove anddiscard all tube gaskets.4.Loosen the clamps and remove the air cleanerhose (pipe) (not shown) from the compressorhousing.5.Loosen the clamps on the air-crossover tubehose (2) at the air compressor housing. Positionthese parts away from the Turbocharger.6.Remove all four Turbocharger mounting boltsand lift the Turbocharger from the exhaustmanifold (6).7.Remove the Turbocharger gasket from theexhaust manifold.8.Cover or plug the exhaust manifold and airtubes.NOTE: Prevent the entrance of foreignmateriel by covering or pluging all openingsInto the Turbocharger.
