SERVICE MANUALTURBOCHARGERSSection 1INSTALLATIONInstall Turbocharger Core Assembly as Follows:1.Carefully Install the turbine end of the coreassembly Into the Turbine Housing (1, Fig 6).(with nozzle ring if so equipped).Figure 6. - Installation of Core Assembly Into Housing1.Core Assembly2.Turbine Housing2.Coat the threads of the capscrews with IH"NEVER SEEZ" compound. Install the clamps,lockplates and bolts to hold the assemblytogether, but with enough slack to allow the coreassembly to be rotated relative to the turbinehousing.3.Install the diffuser (if so equipped) into thecompressor housing. Carefully insert the coreassembly with turbine housing into thecompressor housing. Align the marks on thecompressor housing with those on the centerhousing and backplate. Carefully install thecompressor housing and secure with bolts andlockplates or clamps, whichever is used on theparticular model Turbocharger. Tighten the boltsor clamps in proper sequence and to specifiedtorque. Check the air cleaner, airinduction system and engine exhaust manifoldsfor foreign material.NOTE: To minimize service parts Inventories, onebasic service Turbocharger Is used to replace manyproduction Turbochargers.
