SERVICE MANUALWATER PUMP, THERMOSTAT & IDLER PULLEYSSection 9CLEANING, INSPECTION & REPAIRCLEANINGClean the Water Pump as follows:1.Wash all parts thoroughly in a good solvent.2.Dry with compressed air.INSPECTION AND REPAIRInspect and Repair the Water Pump as follows:(Refer to Fig. 8)1.After cleaning visually inspect the shaft andbearing assembly (4) for wear and leakage.Replace if necessary.2.Visually inspect the bearing housing (2) for wearor damage. Replace if necessary.3.Inspect the impeller vanes (1) for erosion,remove any nicks, burrs or roughness especiallyfrom around the edges. Replace if necessary.4.It is recommended that a new hub (7) be used.A re-used hub may work loose due to materialbeing removed when pressing it on and off.5.When servicing the water pump, ALWAYSreplace the water pump seal (5) and seal seatand bushing assembly (6).6.Bearing and shaft assembly should be replaced.REASSEMBLY AND INSTALLATIONReassemble and install the Water Pump with a PressFit Hub as follows: (4 and 8 Vane Pumps only)1.Support center of bearing housing (4, Fig. 9) witha sleeve(s) as shown.2.Press bearing assembly (3, Fig. 9) until itbottoms in housing.
