Sodium carbonate (item 49, Appendix E)
If engine has previously been in operation, allow
time for cooling before performing procedure.

Drain.
WARNING
·
Do not drain coolant if water temperature gage reads above 180 degrees F (82
degrees C). Contact with steam or hot coolant will result in serious injury to
personnel.
·
Wear goggles/safety glasses when flushing radiator. Alkali-based corrosion
inhibitor is in coolant system. Contact with skin can cause injury to personnel.
NOTE
Fan guard shown removed for clarity.
