Remove the panel and louvers from the frameassembly.2. Put two pieces of cardboard or sheet metal betweenthe rotor assembly and the stator assembly. This willkeep the rotor off of the stator when the coverassembly is removed.3. Remove four bolts (2) and the retainers that hold thebearing.4. Remove six bolts (1) that hold the cover on the stator.Remove the wires F1 and F2 from the regulatorassembly.5. Install two guide bolts (4) with 1/2"-13 NC threads, 10in. (250 mm) long.6. Install two 3/8"-16 NC forcing bolts (3) in the threadedholes in cover. Push the cover from the bearing andremove the cover with a hoist.NOTICEDo not damage the stationary exciterfield, which is part of the cover, whenthe cover is removed.7. Remove ring (6) that holds bearing (5) on the shaft.8. Install tool group (A) and remove the bearing fromshaft.NOTICEDo not damage the armature of theexciter when the tool group isinstalled.NOTE: After the bearing has beenremoved, the armature of the exciterCcan be removed. The armaturewindings will be destroyed.130
