SR4GENERATORDISASSEMBLYANDASSEMBLYGENERATOR BEARING(OUTSIDE BEARING TYPE RFA)INSTALL GENERATOR BEARING 7551-12NOTE: If the armature of the exciterhas been removed, press thereplacement armature on the rotorshaft using a pipe with approximatelyan I.D. and O.D. of the rotor shaftO.D. and armature winding I.D.respectively. The rotor shaft has ataper and keyway.1.Heat the bearing in oven to a maximumtemperature of 225 F (107 C).2.Install bearing (1) on the shaft.3.Install the ring that holds the bearing on theshaft.4.Install two guide bolts with 1/2"-13 NC threads,10 in. (250 mm) long, in the generator. Installthe cover assembly on the two guide bolts.Slide the cover into position over the bearing.NOTICEDo not damage the exciter fields andarmature when cover is installed.5.Install the bolts that hold the cover on thegenerator.6.Install retainer's (2) and bolts that hold thebearing in the cover.7.Connect the two field wires F1 and F2 to theregulator assembly terminal strip.8.Remove the cardboard or sheet metal that wasused to keep the rotor off of the stator.9.Fill the bearing chamber with lubricant. SeeLubrication and Maintenance Guide.10.Install the louvers in the end of the generatorframe. Install the panel in the frame.131
