SERVICE MANUALFor Dane Angle Spring Clutches1.Remove clutch housing inspection cover andcheck release bearing clearance as follows:Vehicleswithoutclutchbrake:Check clearancebetween release bearing housing and clutchcover (Figure 4*).* Clutch brake and/or clutch cover in vehicle maydiffer in appearance from those illustrated.Gauge tools can be made locally by welding apiece of stock material to a rod (handle). Referto SPECIFICATIONS for specified clearancedimensions.2.If clearance is more or less than specified,readjust as follows:ManualAdjustmentTypea.Rotate engine flywheel until adjusting ring lock is exposed. Remove adjusting ring lock bolt and pry lock free of adjusting ring (Figure 5). Turn adjusting ringcounterclockwise to move release bearingtoward flywheel; turn adjusting ringclockwise to move bearing housing awayfrom flywheel. Rotation or movement ofeach notch will move release bearinghousing approximately .5 mm (.020").
