The water inlet to the crankcase and theunfiltered oil passageway to the oil cooler align with holesin the front cover. Machined surfaces are provided formounting the pumps.The water pump cone is machined and acts as the"back" plate for the water pump. The water pump, oilpump and injection pump can be removed withoutdisturbing the front cover. This applies whether theengine is equipped with a "full" front cover as shown inFig. 5, or with an "earless" front cover as shown in Fig.6.
