SERVICE MANUALHOOD REMOVAL1.Release hood latches on each side of cowl and tilthood assembly forward.2.Support tilted hood on floor stands or saw horse torelieve tension on hood stop cables. Protect paintfrom scratches.3.Remove spring type pins and cable end pins (one foreach cable) and detach stop cables from hood stopbrackets at top of radiator.4.Disconnect headlight wiring harness from connectoron underside of hood.5.Remove spring type pin and hinge pin from the twohood hinge assemblies and detach hood fromchassis.6.Hood-to-frame hinge mounting details for the varioussize hoods are shown in Figs. 3 and 4.FIBERGLASS REPAIRRefer to fiberglass repair instruction section.HOOD INSTALLATIONHood installation is the reverse of the foregoingremoval procedure. Before final tightening of hoodmounting bolts, check hood adjustment.HOOD ADJUSTMENTWhen making any adjustment to tilt hood, inspecthood alignment and clearance between hood and cowl.Elongated mounting holes in frame half of hood to framehinges provide for hood adjustment. If adjustment isrequired, loosen hinge to frame mounting bolts andadjust hood to cowl clearance as necessary. Tightenmounting bolts to specified torque (see Torque Chart).CAB DOORS (FIG. 5)Doors used on the S-Series cab are of all steel-welded construction with access panel and button plugopenings for making hinge adjustments or removal asrequired. The door is mounted on concealed leaf typehinges and door adjustment is provided by elongatedholes in hinge leaves. Door stop is integral with upperhinge. Door striker pin is also adjustable on lock pillar.Service on the door and its components is covered inparagraphs which follow.Fig. 5. They can alsobe removed individually without having to remove othercomponents for access. Servicemen should have littledifficulty in making a complete door disassembly or aremoval of any of its component parts.
