Drain antifreeze (cont).

Position drain pan under radiator drain plug (1).
(3)
Remove radiator filler cap (2).
(4)
Open radiator drain plug (1). Drain all antifreeze
from radiator. Close drain plug (1).
(5)
Position drain pan under engine block drain plug
(3).
(6)
Open engine drain plug (3). Drain antifreeze
from engine block. Close engine drain plug (3).

Clean Cooling System.
(1)
Drain cooling system as described above.
(2)
Fill with clean water and radiator cleaning
solution. Follow instructions provided on solution
container.
Draining Antifreeze
WARNING
Improper use of cleaning solution can cause burns or other serious injury. Read all warning labels
carefully before using.
CAUTION
Do not start pump engine unless distributor pump is primed. Refer to para. 2-16 to prime pump.

Run engine to clean system.
(4)
When cleaning is complete, drain cleaning solution. After engine has cooled, flush system as described below.
CAUTION
NEVER pour cold water in hot engine. This can cause head or cylinder block to crack. NEVER
operate engine without coolant under any circumstances.

Flushing Engine.

Drain cooling system (refer to para. c. above).
(2)
Remove thermostat (refer to para. 4-46A) thermostat cover (2).
