NOTE Install preformed packings with one bevel edge towards stuffing box and one bevel edge towards gland. (7) Install two preformed packings (9) in stuffing box (6). (8) Install stuffing box (6) and two preformed packings (9) on stem (7). (9) Install gland (5), gland spring (4), and nut (3) on stem (7). (10) Install handle (2) and tighten handle nut (1). NOTE Follow-on maintenance: Install gate valve (para 5-59). END OF TASK 5-252
