SECTION GCylinder Block and LinersFig. G.1.Exploded view of Cylinder Block Assembly. To Renew Bush in No. 1 Camshaft BoreCurrent 4.236 marine engines have a bush fitted intoNo. 1 camshaft bore in the cylinder block.A prefinished bush is available to replace a worn bush. The worn bush may be extracted and replaced by anew one. making sure that the oil holes in the bush andcylinder block correspond.CYLINDER LINERSCast iron interference fit dry liners are fitted to the4.236 marine engine. These liners may be rebored to0.030 in (0,76 mm) oversize, but during this operation itis most important to ensure that the true alignment of thebores relative to the crankshaft axis is maintained. To Renew Cylinder Liners1.Remove all engine components from the cylinderblock (see appropriate sections for removal ofthese).2.Remove the cylinder head studs from the cylinderblock.3.The liners are pressed out through the top of thecylinder block using a shouldered metal disc slightlysmaller on the outside diameter than the parentbore size. Ensure that no damage is caused to theparent bore.4.Ensure that the cylinder bores are perfect, cleanand free from burrs etc.5.Thoroughly wash oil any grease etc. from the newliner with cleaning fluid, and dry thoroughly. Whenfitting replacement liners ensure that the correcttype is used.6.Lubricate the outside diameters of the liner withclean oil and press them in until 0.028 0.035 in(0,71/0,89 mm) of the liner Is protruding above thecylinder block face. Shin washers or a solid stopwasher 0.028 0.035 in (0,71/0,89 mm) thick shouldbe used when pressing the liners into the cylinderblock In order to give the necessary protrusionFig. G.2.Dimensional check of Cylinder Bore
