CYLINDER BLOCK AND LINERS—G.2Fig. G.3.Checking Cylinder Liner Protrusion above top face ofCylinder Block.7.Bore and finish hone the liners to the dimensiongiven in "Technical Data." The above linerprotrusion may create difficulties where boringequipment is mounted on the top face of thecylinder block. This may be overcome by making aparallel plate to fit between the boring bar andcylinderblock face. Such a plate should be thicker than.035 in (0,89 mm) and have holes bored in it to giveclearance around the protruding liners.8.Assemble the engine components to the cylinderblock (see the appropriate sections for assembly ofthese).Oversize Cylinder LinersOversize outside diameter cylinder liners are availablefor fitment in service where the standard parent bore isenlarged to remove damage. They are available as follows:-OversizeDescription0.005 in (0,13 mm)Cast Iron Flangeless-bore and hone0.010 in (0.25 mm)Cast Iron Flangeless-bore and honeWhere a parent bore is reclaimed in service, it shouldbe machined to the dimension by adding the appropriateliner oversize to the parent bore diameter given on PageB.2. The top of the parent bore must be re-chamferedafter machining.Where 0.005 in and 0.010 in oversize liners are fitted, the liner oversize should be stamped on the cylinderblock top face between the liner and the edge of thecylinder block.
