Breather elementFigure 23. - Valve Cover Mounted Breather Assembly1.Lower breather tube2.Clamps3.Upper breather tube4.Hose5.Breather housing assembly6.Breather element7.Breather gasket8.Breather tube support8.The "OLD" Crankcase Mounted ventilationsystem requires breather replacement asfollows:a.Remove the screws securing thebreather tube (1, Fig. 22) and thescrews securing the housing (3).b.Remove the housing (3, Fig. 22),baffle housing (4) and element (5).c.Install a new breather element (5, Fig.22) and a new baffle housing (4).Install body (3) with tube (1) andsecure hardware.NOTE:Element must be installed inthe crankcase, not in the breatherbody, to avoid excessive oil carryoverinto the tube.9.The "NEW" Valve Cover Mounted ventilationsystem requires breather replacement asfollows:a.Remove screws securing the breatherhousing assembly (5, Fig. 23) andclamps ’(2) securing hose (4) tobreather tube (3) and housing.b.Remove breather housing andelement (6, Fig. 23).c.Install a new breather element (6, Fig.23) and inspect the breather gasket(7).
