STEP 5/CYLINDER CONNECTIONPlace the nylon washer on the support rod.For Mercury/Mariner inline engines 80through 140 HP) place the one inch spacerbushing on the rod before putting on thewasher.VERY IMPORTANT.Grease the supportrod thoroughly with a good waterproof andanti-corrosive grease such as OMC tripleguard equivalent.Insert the support rod into the tilt tube fromstarboard side.Place a nylon washer on the protrudingend of the support rod then bolt on thesupport rod collar and tighten loosely.Remove free play in the support rod by prying the end with ascrewdriver while tightening the nut and bolt firmly. A helper is neededfor this step.
