Discardentire heater/thermostat assembly.5.Install new heater by inserting it into hole fromwhich old heater was removed and retighten setscrew.6.Install new thermostat by inserting it into the holefrom which old thermostat was removed andattach by means of the two screws provided.7.Attach the lead from the thermostat to theelectrical system. Even though the heater isthermostatically controlled, it is recommendedthat the heater be hooked up through a controlswitch.8.Be sure the unit is grounded to the chassis.Servicing The Wrap-Around Strap Type HeaterThis heater is designed for use with the olderstyle (prior to January 1, 1979) bottom caps which do notcontain a standard cartridge type heater. The followingare the instructions for installing or replacing this straptype heater.1.Clean the semi-circular boss farthest from theunloader nut.2.Position heater on boss with mounting flangeagainst fin on bottom cap.3.Mark hole location on fin.4.Drill a 3/32 diameter hole at hole location.5.Reinstall heater and install by means of thescrew 6-32 supplied.6.Connect heater lead wire to electrical system ofvehicle. The wrap-around strap type heater isnot thermostatically controlled, therefore it will benecessary to either be connected to the vehicle’sheater switch or to a toggle switch at theinstrument panel to be controlled by theoperator.CTS-4079 - CHAPTER XIV - Page 19
