the thermostat on the bottom cap. Discard
entire heater/thermostat assembly.
5.
Install new heater by inserting it into hole from
which old heater was removed and retighten set
screw.
6.
Install new thermostat by inserting it into the hole
from which old thermostat was removed and
attach by means of the two screws provided.
7.
Attach the lead from the thermostat to the
electrical system. Even though the heater is
thermostatically controlled, it is recommended
that the heater be hooked up through a control
switch.
8.
Be sure the unit is grounded to the chassis.
Servicing The Wrap-Around Strap Type Heater
This heater is designed for use with the older
style (prior to January 1, 1979) bottom caps which do not
contain a standard cartridge type heater. The following
are the instructions for installing or replacing this strap
type heater.
1.
Clean the semi-circular boss farthest from the
unloader nut.
2.
Position heater on boss with mounting flange
against fin on bottom cap.
3.
Mark hole location on fin.
4.
Drill a 3/32 diameter hole at hole location.
5.
Reinstall heater and install by means of the
screw 6-32 supplied.
6.
Connect heater lead wire to electrical system of
vehicle. The wrap-around strap type heater is
not thermostatically controlled, therefore it will be
necessary to either be connected to the vehicles
heater switch or to a toggle switch at the
instrument panel to be
controlled
by
the
operator.
