Using ball bearinginstaller KDEP-1069, press only on outer race ofball bearing while guiding intermediate bearinginto place. Be careful camshaft does not catchon roller tappets.NOTE: If camshaft replacement is required see Section3, Page 4.28.Install camshaft intermediate bearing screwswith copper washers. See torque specifications.29.Remove tappet holders as follows: Starting fromgovernor end of pump, rotate camshaft until No.6 cam lobe is at TDC. Turn handle of tappetholder clockwise until #6 tappet contacts camlobe. Rotate camshaft until No. 5 cam lobe is atTDC. Turn handle of tappet holder clockwiseuntil No. 5 tappet contacts cam lobe. The toolcan now be removed from housing.30.Repeat step 32 until all holders are removed.IMPORTANTDO NOT ALLOW TAPPETS TO SLAMAGAINST CAMSHAFT. DOING SOCOULD CAUSE PREMATUREFAILURE OF CAMSHAFT AND/ORROLLER TAPPETS.31.Install tappet spacer block in side plug holes.32.Coat new side plug with Loctite 601 and installwith side plug installer KDEP 1058.33.Place a new O-ring on bottom cover and mountbottom cover to pump.34.Remove spacer plates and install correct shimsunder each barrel flange.35.Install supply pump.36.Tighten supply pump mounting nuts. See torquechart.37.Install fuel return valve.GOVERNOR REASSEMBLY1.Install governor housing to pump, (See torquechart). Apply Loctite 601 to internal screws.2.Install flyweight assembly to camshaft (Figure10). Install spacer shim and secure to camshaftwith slotted cylindrical nut. Spacer shims areavailable in .05 mm increments to adjust for axialend play of governor weight assembly, specifiedat .05 .10 mmm (.002 .004 in). Use cylindricalnut tool KDEP 2988. Torque nut tospecifications.3.Check action of damper by holding camshaft,grasping weight assembly and twisting to notefor slight movement.4.Install guide bushing; secure bushing with twocap screws lock screws in place with lock platetabs.5.Install guide bushing assembly; temporarilysecure with thru-bolt at this time, since anothermeasurement will be made later in procedure.CGES-375Printed in United States of AmericaPage 4
